Cerner is proud to partner with the Victoria Hospitals Foundation and Island Health as the software and technology supplier to the IHealth digital transformation program. IHealth is a transformative approach to health and care within Island Health and the communities they serve, providing a higher quality experience of care for Vancouver Island residents. IHealth benefits include improved safety, enhanced continuity of care and collaboration among care providers, faster testing and medication turnaround time, better decision making, and greater patient involvement in care decisions. IHealth includes the implementation of an electronic health record (EHR) with advanced functionality, with the goal of having one record and plan of care for residents in our communities.
We commend the hard work of their clinicians and staff during the pandemic, and also celebrate the recent IHealth project successes. Firstly, the expansion of the MyHealth Patient Portal to over 150,000 residents of Vancouver Island. This secure platform gives patients convenient, 24/7 access to their personal health information from anywhere with an internet connection. This includes access to Island Health laboratory results, medical imaging reports, clinical documentation and outpatient appointments. MyHealth can also provide information to care teams prior to surgical appointments.
Secondly, Island health has recently activated Cerner Millennium® clinical documentation in South Island hospitals to facilitate more accurate and efficient physician workflows. Clinical findings for each patient encounter are now documented in the EHR within the clinical workflow. Together, these initiatives strengthen access to health information and reinforce seamless communication between patients and care teams.
